The Michigan Truck Driving Industry

Wednesday, January 6th, 2010

The automobile industry is arguably Michigan’s most well-known and important industry. Major American auto makers call Detroit home and the urban city is known as the center of the American auto industry. Both GM (General Motors) and Ford, two of America’s largest auto makers, have factories in Michigan. Truck drivers are needed to transport and deliver items to and from the factories, as well as transport the finished products (consumer automobiles) throughout the rest of the state and country.

Another major industry in Michigan is manufacturing. The state is home to a number of factories and plants that manufacture different products, including copper, furniture, and military equipment. Just as with the auto industry, professional truck drivers are hired to transport items produced in this industry to various destinations throughout the United States.

Other important industries in the Michigan economy include tourism and agriculture. Tourism has become important because the state has become a favorite spot of outdoorsmen and offers great locations for hunting, camping, and fishing. As for agriculture, major products produced in Michigan include Christmas trees and various fruit products including cherries, blueberries, and apples. Once again, the agriculture industry relies heavily on truck drivers to transport their goods, especially since the products have a specific shelf-life. So truck drivers are needed to transport the time-sensitive goods.

If you are interested in a Michigan truck driver job, there has never been a better time to pursue a career behind-the-wheel. The ever expanding economy of Michigan and the rest of the country is providing a number of new truck driving opportunities, ones that are bound to meet all your career goals.
